Blake Olafson is a Founding Partner of Asia Capital Real Estate (“ACRE”), a private equity fund based in Singapore with global investments and assets under management of over US$4.5 Billion. The focus of the company has been rental housing and residential hospitality projects in the US and Asia. He has spent 34 years in the real estate industry (32 years in Asia) covering all aspects of the direct investment process. Mr. Olafson is responsible for the expansion of ACRE’s (www.acremgt.com) platform in Asia and oversees ACRE’s flagship developments in Thailand.
He is the co-founder of HOMA (www.homa.co) a platform of a new generation of residential accommodation in Thailand featuring tech-enable guest experience, flexible leases, and modern facilities including co-working spaces. Currently there are over 1500 rooms in the HOMA Platform.
Blake has been involved in the hospitality and residential business in Thailand since 1999, when he was working with Lehman Brothers. Blake and his team were involved in over 15 hotel and serviced apartment investments and numerous condo developments between 2000 and 2008. He also has been involved in hotel, office and residential investments in Singapore.
Prior to ACRE, Blake was the Head of Asian Real Estate at Arcapita, where he was responsible
for a $1.8 billion Asian real estate portfolio in working class multifamily rental housing and
industrial estates. Previously, Mr. Olafson spent several years at Lehman Brothers as a Senior
Vice President responsible for principal real estate investments in Asia with a strong focus on Thailand and resided in Thailand for over 6 years.
Mr. Olafson has been an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), www.uli.org where he currently serves as a Global Governing Trustee in addition to previously serving as Chairman of ULI Singapore and a member of the Executive Committee of ULI Asia. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development in 1995.
