China Property Investment Growth Slows to 3.5%
Growth in China’s real estate investment slowed to 3.5 percent in the first eight months of this year from the same period a year ago, though the area of property sold rose 7.2 percent, official data showed on Sunday.
The weak rise in investment, reported by the National Bureau of Statistics(NBS), compared with an increase of 4.3 percent in January-July. Read more>>
Build and Go Naked: CSCEC Officials Come Under Investigation
Twenty-four officials at State-run China State Construction Engineering Corp have been identified as “naked officials” – officials who live in China while their spouses or children live as permanent residents abroad, either by visa or citizenship.
During an inspection tour arranged by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the nation’s top anti-graft authority, from Feb 28 to April 29, inspectors looked into the company’s approximately 4,300 executives and department heads and the status of their family members. Read more>>
Greenland Group Completes 56-Storey Tower in Nanchang, Jiangxi
Work has completed on a glass skyscraper in the south-eastern Chinese city of Nanchang designed by US architect Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM).
The rectangular 56-storey Jiangxi Greenland Zifeng Tower measures 268m and is clad in an aluminium triangular façade, complete with LED lighting that illuminates the tower at night. Read more>>
Woman Escapes Freak Escalator Accident in Shenyang
Another freak accident has been reported in an escalator in a busy shopping mall in northeast China’s city of Shenyang.
A woman managed to jump over in the nick of time and save her life, when the top section on an escalator unexpectedly collapsed.
